Automobiles in Germany's Town Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Officers mentioned they were contacted by a individual who noticed a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish substance

Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a release.

Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The liquid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.

Officers then found many other marked vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in relation with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for tips.

A high-ranking representative said the vandalism rendered him without words and required to be solved quickly.

"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right attack five years ago," he posted on social media, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
